Diagnostic Sales Account Manager

The Diagnostic Sales Account Manager will be responsible for selling the portfolio of existing products and the launch of new products into established and developing markets.  They will accomplish this by calling on Public Health Departments, State Department of Health Labs, Reference Laboratories, Hospitals, Infectious Disease Physicians, Pathologists, and all associated stakeholders. Through these calls, strong relationships with key opinion leaders will be established creating a network of experts. This position will establish relationships at the executive levels of institutions and present cost-effective initiatives to improve patient care and outcomes. The Diagnostic Sales Account Manager will be responsible for developing a system of “best practice” processes, which includes selling tools and proof sources which will build customer acceptance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   

  • Develop new business opportunities, serving as the business contact for Applied DNA Sciences Diagnostic’s products.
  • Identify and develop new customer relationships by utilizing strong product and market knowledge and sales experience to manage sales and resolve customer questions and concerns.
  • Travel to customer sites on a regular basis to meet with current and potential customers.
  • Build Applied DNA Sciences Diagnostic’s reputation by creating and presenting materials at trade shows, symposia, and society meetings.
  • Develop, build, and maintain relationships with key and influential thought leaders and institutions through networking and referrals to generate sales of new and existing products.
  • Analyze, develop, and execute a sales plan and budget.
  • Achieve financial goals.
  • Maintain timely expense reporting within established guidelines.
  • Develop and submit sales budgets, reports, expense reports, forecasts and any other required documents or reports as requested in a timely manner.
  • Actively document all sales activities, and update customer information and sales opportunities. All information must be current and maintained on a daily basis.
  • Responsive to customer requests, return email and voicemail messages daily, follow up on requests, and coordinate with internal resources.
  • Report competitive information gathered in field, participate in pilot projects, and new product launches.
  • Demonstrates commitment to Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, cGMP, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to travel as necessary (up to 75%).
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Business.
  • Minimum of 8+ years successful sales experience in diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, and infectious disease markets.
  • Experience selling into clinical laboratories, hospitals, reference laboratories, physician offices.
  • Knowledge of in vitro diagnostic, clinical lab operations, and infectious disease disciplines.
  • Thorough understanding of financial dynamics (pricing, profitability, contract management, opportunity costs as well as improved patient outcome through financial savings.)
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel and work with customers.
  • Overnight travel as necessary to complete business requirements.
  • Knowledge of sales process for tangible products, which includes extensive experience in cold calling.
  • Ability to operate independently without frequent supervision or guidance.
  • Able to work well with others in a highly team oriented, collaborative, sales environment.
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with a Sales Management System.
