Tests highlight Xinjiang cotton concerns
STONY BROOK – CHAMPAIGN – DNA and isotopic testing has revealed that 19% of all textile-based products tested contained cotton from the Xinjiang region of China which is banned in the US over forced labour concerns.
Molecular technologies specialist Applied DNA Sciences (ADNAS) and Isotech Laboratories, part of the Stratum Reservoir group, tested 822 samples from retailers in the US and other countries between February last year and March 2024.
