Applied DNA advances cotton genomics-based methodology
geoTyping program can identify fiber origin of regional varietals
Stony Brook, N.Y. – Applied DNA Sciences has filed a provisional patent application in the U.S. for its Giza 94 cotton biomarker.
The company believes its cotton genomics program can bring forensic proof of cotton authenticity and provenance specifically related to regional cotton varietals to give brands and relevant regulatory authorities access to fiber origin data regardless of location of manufacture. In addition, the program has identified a biomarker specific to Giza 94, the largest planted Egyptian cotton varietal used in the production of premium cotton textiles.
