Diagnostic Sales Representative

The Diagnostic Sales Account Representative will be responsible for selling the portfolio of existing products into established and developing markets. They will accomplish this by calling on Public Health Departments, State Department of Health Labs, Reference Laboratories, Hospitals, Infectious Disease Physicians, Physicians, Specialists, Pathologists, and all associated stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   

  • Develop new business opportunities, serving as the business contact for Applied DNA Sciences Diagnostic’s products.
  • Identify and develop new customer relationships by utilizing strong product and market knowledge and sales experience to manage sales and resolve customer questions and concerns.
  • Travel to customer sites on a regular basis to meet with current and potential customers.
  • Achieve sales goals.
  • Submit sales reports, expense reports, forecasts and any other required documents or reports as requested in a timely manner, within established guidelines.
  • Actively document all sales activities, and update customer information and sales opportunities on a daily basis.
  • Responsive to customer requests, return email and voicemail messages daily, follow up on requests, and coordinate with internal resources.
  • Report competitive information gathered in field, participate in pilot projects, and new product launches.
  • Ability to travel as necessary within assigned Long island territory.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Business.
  • Minimum of 5 years successful sales experience in diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, and infectious disease markets.
  • Experience selling into clinical laboratories, hospitals, reference laboratories, physician offices.
  • Knowledge of in vitro diagnostic, clinical lab operations, and infectious disease disciplines.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel and work with customers.
  • Knowledge of sales process for tangible products, which includes extensive experience in cold calling.
  • Able to work well with others in a highly team oriented, collaborative, sales environment.
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
